On January 2, 1949 one of the worst blizzards in the history of the Northern Plains began its pummeling of South Dakota, Wyoming, Nebraska and Colorado. From January 2nd through the 5th, the blizzard raged and brought heavy snow, strong winds and cold temperatures.
