Before locomotive 1309 became the main steam power for the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad, number 734 held down the runs from Cumberland to Frostburg. This 2-8-0 type steam locomotive was built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1916 and worked hauling iron ore trains for the Lake Superior and Ishpeming Railroad as their number 34. It came to the Western Maryland Scenic in 1992 and regularly pulled trains until 2016, when it went out of service for a federally mandated boiler inspection. The l
