One of two people with life-threatening injuries rescued from an Edmonds house fire Friday afternoon has died. A little after 6 p.m. a 911 caller reported smoke coming from the home north of Ballinger Park and sounds of a baby crying inside as well. Six minutes later, firefighters began to arrive. According to South County Fire, the response included nearly 40 firefighters. A woman in her 80s died following a house fire in Lynnwood on Sunday. Her husband, who is in his 90s, was able to escape. The Labor Mountain Fire, burning in and around Highway 97 near Blewett Pass, has grown to over 37,000 acres with 7% containment as of Oct. 1.
