I use AmpliTube for all my tones, which is both very versatile while allowing me to tweak the preset even post-recording. I'll A/B the original recording against mine, and tweak knobs until they match (or at least until it sounds vaguely passable). Often a tone that sounds spot on actually is clearly quite different when A/B'd with the original. But it works well enough to sound like the tone in your head. De

I record the parts, and then tweak the amp, pedals, and post effects until it sounds/feels close to the original. I would say the single most vital tweak is EQ before and after the amp.
