The CSX fleet of heritage locomotives is continuing to grow with the introduction of CSX 1871 painted in a custom design honoring the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad (ACL). First appearing in 1871, the ACL was officially incorporated in 1900 and extended from Georgia to Richmond, Virginia, and later into Florida. The ACL merged with the Seaboard Air Line Railroad in 1967 to form the Seaboard Coast Line, which later became part of CSX. CSX 1871 will carry the ACL colors across our 20,000-mile networ

CSX’s newest heritage locomotive commemorates the proud history of the Western Maryland Railway, which formed in 1852! The Western Maryland was a small but mighty railroad that hauled coal and freight in Maryland, West Virginia and Pennsylvania before merging with the B&O and C&O to eventually become part of CSX as we know it today. Our fleet of heritage locomotives, including the CSX 1852, continue to help reinforce our #ONECSX team's pride in the history of CSX. | CSX

It’s here! CSX’s fourth in a series of heritage locomotive designs commemorates the Consolidated Rail Corporation, or Conrail, and bears the number 1976, the year the railroad was founded.
