Trout Stocking update: Fisheries Seasonal Danielle helped to stock 40 very large (10-12 pound) Seeforellen strain Brown Trout into Highland Lake today (1/14). The ice around the state boat ramp was 4 inches thick. As ice thickness can vary extreme caution is advised until the thickness increases a bit. Today, following the much needed rain, we stocked the Naugatuck River Atlantic salmon management areas (Campville section and the lower river from Naugatuck to Beacon Falls). A total of 112 salmon were stocked with 1/2 of the total into each section. These fish are stocked for recreational fishing and are not part of any restoration effort.
