Prime Minister Modi's holy dip in the Ganga during Delhi's assembly elections has sparked a controversy, with the Opposition alleging political motivations behind his action.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj today and took a holy dip at the Sangam. Accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, he also took a boat ride from Arail Ghat to the Triveni Sangam -- the confluence of holy rivers Ganga, Yamuna and the mythical Saraswati.

Ajay Rai's statement came while he was on his visit to the Ghazipur residence of Inspector Anjani Rai, who allegedly died in the Maha Kumbh stampede.
