The officer who was injured in the shooting on Emory University's campus in Atlanta is dead, Interim Chief Greg Padrick of DeKalb County Police Department said. He died of his injuries from a gunshot wound, Padrick said.

An active shooter at Emory University in Georgia is now dead, Atlanta police said in a statement. The university wrote on X on Aug. 8, "Emory Emergency: Active shooter on Emory Atlanta Campus at Emory Point CVS.

Authorities say both a suspected active shooter and a police officer were killed in a gunfight outside an Emory Point CVS, near the CDC and Emory University campus, on Friday afternoon.
