Elon Musk has repeatedly misled the public about federal spending while playing a leading role in President Donald Trump’s effort to cut that spending.

Democratic governors held a press conference on Tuesday, sounding the alarm on Trump’s threat to Medicaid and signaling a Democratic messaging priority.

Donald Trump has appealed to Elon Musk for more intensive implementation of reforms in the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Trump emphasized that he would like Musk to act "more aggressively" in implementing reforms and cutting spending.

Musk caused alarm among federal employees over an email sent on Saturday requesting that employees summarize their work.

Key U.S. agencies, including the FBI, State Department and the Pentagon, have instructed their employees not to comply with cost-cutting chief Elon Musk’s demand that federal workers explain what they accomplished last week — or risk losing their jobs.

The billionaire working to strip the federal government of its workforce made the demand after President Donald Trump told him to "GET MORE AGGRESSIVE."
