A driver who was street racing struck and killed a pedestrian in South Los Angeles Saturday night, police said. The crash occurred at about 10 p.m. in the area of 66th Street and Normandie Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The victim, who was walking outside the unmarked crosswalk, was struck by the grey Dodge Charger, police said. The Charger sped away from the scene.

A South Carolina woman was killed Thursday in a multi-vehicle crash, according to the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office. Meghan Laurence, a 21-year-old Hanahan resident, was the victim, Coroner Darnell Hartwell said in a news release.

According to authorities, the woman was at a bus stop at the intersection when a driver, identified only as a 58-year-old man, in a Ford F-150 put the truck in reverse and hit the woman on the sidewalk.
