Diogo Jota passed away alongside his brother in a car crash in northern Spain on July 3, with Liverpool returning to action for their first pre-season match 10 days later

The Merseyside club's supporters have been holding Jota banners in the stands at the Deepdale Stadium for their side's pre-season friendly away match against Preston.

Liverpool boss Arne Slot said it had been difficult for the team to get back to work after the death of Diogo Jota and so he had suggested to his players that perhaps the best way forward was to follow their late teammate's shining example.
