The first WNBA game at the United Center got off to an unfortunate start when Chicago Sky point guard and franchise icon Courtney Vandersloot went down with a knee injury just minutes into the team's matchup with the Indiana Fever.
History was alive on the hardwood at center court Saturday as the Chicago Sky and the Indiana Fever faced off in the first-ever WNBA game held at the United Center.
The game initially was in demand in large part because of Fever star Caitlin Clark, but even with her being sidelined by a quad injury, the Sky set a franchise record with 19,496 in attendance. Their previous high was 16,444 for a 2016 game at Allstate Arena.
Chicago Sky veteran point guard Courtney Vandersloot exited Saturday night's home game against the Indiana Fever in the first quarter and will not return because of a knee injury, the Sky announced.
