Timeline: Here's how much snow could fall across DC, Maryland, Virginia this morning?
2 a.m.-4 a.m.: Snow starts falling in our southern zones. We expect the highest accumulations to be across Central Virginia, stretching east through the Northern Neck. 1-3 inches (isolated 4 inch amounts) are possible in these regions.
WASHINGTON — Some parts of the D.C. region are waking up to a wintry mix of rain and snow. As of 6 a.m. most areas have flipped to rain. However, accumulating snow will continue for areas far north and west where 1 - 3" is possible.

With a Winter Weather Advisory in effect, districts across the region are shifting Tuesday start times as slippery roads and low visibility impact the commute.
Expect a chilly Wednesday across the Washington, D.C. region, with sunshine and highs in the 40s. FOX 5’s Taylor Grenda says keep an eye on next week when snow showers could move in.
Following this, a sharp blast of Arctic air will surge into the eastern half of the country late Friday into the weekend, dropping temperatures 10 to 20 degrees below normal. Wind chills will make it feel even colder, marking the return of winter chill that will persist into early next week.
