The stormy forecast and weekend temperatures in the mid to low 70s come just before spring’s first day on March 20. This winter brought as much as 3 inches of snow to metro Atlanta and North Georgia in early January and dumped varying amounts across the state later the same month.

The Storm Prediction Center has increased our threat level to Moderate, the second-highest they issue for severe storms. Weather Impact Alert remains in place.

Impact: Strong to severe storms. All modes of severe weather are possible - damaging winds, hail, and tornadoes. Need: A way to get weather alerts that will wake you if necessary. Rain chances are back in the forecast beginning Thursday, but the highest risk for severe storms stays west of north Georgia until Saturday.
