Ahead of a highly anticipated season where they are already national title favorites with a top Heisman contender in Arch Manning, the Texas Longhorns made history with their place at No. 1 in the US LBM Coaches Poll Top 25 for Aug. 4.

For the first time in history, Texas football is ranked No. 1 in one of the major preseason polls. The Longhorns sit atop the Preseason Coaches Poll, edging out reigning national champion Ohio State for the No. 1 spot.

According to multiple reports, Texas football offensive lineman Andre Cojoe tore a ligament in his knee during practice and will miss the 2025 season. On Texas Football first reported the news in a post on X, but the American-Statesman could not confirm the injury with the Texas football program as of Monday afternoon.

Texas announced running back CJ Baxter will miss this season after determining a knee injury in practice will require surgery.
