The violation stems from when Lia Thomas, a biological male who identifies as a woman, was allowed to compete on the women's swim team.

The Trump administration said Monday that the University of Pennsylvania violated Title IX by letting a transgender swimmer compete on the school’s women’s team and enter into women’s facilities. It gave Penn 10 days to voluntarily resolve the violations,

The university is required to resolve the Title IX violations in ten days, or else it will be referred to the Department of Justice.
