Englishman Luke Donald, the 2025 Ryder Cup captain recorded a bogey-free round Thursday and is in contention at the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow in Charlotte, N.C.

There were a number of unlikely names at the top of the PGA Championship leaderboard early in Thursday’s opening round at Quail Hollow, but none was more eye-opening than Luke Donald.
