Google has announced a new AI feature that uses Gemini AI bot to add events to your Google Calendar based on emailed details in Gmail.

Gemini will automatically detect calendar-related content in an email and present an “Add to calendar” button. After clicking the button, the side panel in Gmail will open to confirm the event has been added to the calendar.

Google has stated that Gemini will not add an event to the Calendar even if it finds details in Gmail, but it will ask the users if they wish to add the event to their calendar

Google is testing a new Gemini side panel within Google Calendar that will let users quickly and conversationally check their schedule.

Google’s AI assistant Gemini has now started appearing as a dedicated sidebar in Google Calendar. The feature is still being tested in Workspace Labs and hasn’t yet been made available to all standard users.
