There didn’t appear to be a lot on the line entering the final day of the regular season for the BC and BU men’s hockey teams.

When Boston College won the Hockey East regular season title over the weekend to earn the No. 1 seed, the team knew where and when it would be playing in the conference tournament. However, the Eagles had to wait to find out their opponent for the quarterfinals until after the opening round of games on Wednesday night.

Boston College is No. 1 in Pairwise, the rankings that determine the NCAA tournament field. Maine and Boston University, the Nos. 2 and 3 seeds in the Hockey East tournament, aren't far behind.

Two first period goals proved to be all No. 14 Massachusetts hockey needed to secure a Hockey East Tournament opening-round win.

Hockey East announced its season awards on social media. One of the awards announced was the 2024-25 Pro Ambitions All-Rookie Team which featured two Eagles. Forwards James Hagens and Teddy Stiga were both unanimous selections to the team.

Northeastern women’s hockey (22-14-1, 15-11-1 HE) had a dramatic showdown March 8 in an overtime thriller against the Boston University Terriers (24-11-2, 18-7-2 HE) in the Hockey East Championship at the University of Connecticut’s Toscano Family Ice Forum,

The Boston College Eagles men’s hockey team wrapped up its regular season with a 6-0 shutout win over the Merrimack Warriors on Saturday. Multiple Eagles aided in the team’s success. Ryan Leonard and Connor Joyce scored one goal apiece and Gabe Perreault and Teddy Stiga each scored a pair.

The Maine men’s hockey team is back hosting The Black Bears made it to the conference semifinals last year at TD Garden. The group is drawing on that experience and its work ethic for its belief after going 0-1-1 at UMass to close out the regular season.
