Just days apart, two separate incidents involving Air India's Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft have put the spotlight firmly on the airline's operations and, more broadly, on the reliability of this popular wide-body jet.

Three India-bound Boeing 787 Dreamliners have been forced to return back to base within a 36-hour period after being hit with problems. The Air India passenger jets -the same type as the aircraft involved in last week's tragedy in Ahmedabad- suffered a mix of issues from a bomb threat to a technical glitch.

India's aviation safety watchdog said on Tuesday surveillance conducted on Air India's Boeing 787 fleet did not reveal any major safety concerns, days after one of its jets crashed, killing at least 271 people.
