David Beckham said he is "immensely proud" to have received a knighthood in the King’s Birthday Honours. The football icon, who celebrated his 50th birthday last month, is being honoured for services to sport and charity.

And a further three people with links to Derby and the wider county have been appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE). They joined the likes of newly-knighted David Beckham, Gary Oldman and Roger Daltrey on the King's Birthday Honours List, revealed on Friday.
