The pseudonymous Andrew Frelon, who spoke to Rolling Stone on Wednesday as a spokesperson for the viral AI band The Velvet Sundown, and runs a Twitter account that purports to represent the band, was running an elaborate hoax aimed at the media,

The plot has thickened tremendously. Yesterday Rolling Stone ran an interview with Andrew Frelon, a guy who claimed to be a spokesperson and “adjunct” member of the Velvet Sundown, a “band” made with AI whose songs have now garnered over a million streams total on Spotify.

To no one's surprise, the fakery has now been confirmed. Band members Gabe Farrow, Lennie West, Milo Rains and Orion "Rio" Del Ma don't exist, but spokesman Andrew Frelon (not his real name) does, and, in an interview with Rolling Stone, he's come clean.
